The Mumbai Schools Sports Association's (MSSA) 117th inter-school athletics meet opened with a bang.u00a0
St Lawrence High School, Kandivli lads Anil Sahoo and Karthik Shetty broke decades old high jump MSSA records on Day One at the University Pavilion, Marine Lines yesterday.
Anil registered a record jump of 1.7m, breaking 1.67m set in 1987 in the under-14 category, while Karthik leaped 1.75m ufffd breaking the 1995 record by 0.4m ufffd in the under-16 category. Sahoo said: "I was confident of winning. My aim was to leapu00a0 1.75m, but unfortunately I could not achieve it. I want to be an international athlete." His schoolmate Karthik was candid when asked about his ambition. "I am not very keen on athletics, but my father keeps motivating me to continue with the sport. I am enjoying it and that is why I am continuing," he replied.
