Delighted after winning the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold title yesterday, Saina Nehwal wants to tread cautiously while thinking about her Olympic challenge. Saina won her second title of the year beating World No 11 Ratchanok Inthanon (17) of Thailand 19-21, 21-15, 21-10 at the CU Sport Complex in Bangkok. Her first title was the Swiss Open in March.
"I am not thinking about Olympics right now. I am taking one tournament at a time. I am heading to Indonesia (for Super Series) from here. Then, I have five weeks to improve my game before the Olympics," Saina told MiD DAY.
For the 22-year-old shuttler, it was not an expected victory. "It was a good tournament for me. I never expected that I would win a title at this point of time. I have had some close matches, which gave me confidence. I beat one Chinese and four Thai players on my way to victory," said the World No 5.
It was tough
"It is not that there was no competition because of the absence of the top four Chinese players. All the girls in top 10 are capable of causing upsets. So it was a very tough tournament for me," she said from Bangkok.
Saina, however, is eager to play in Indonesia, particularly since she has made the final of the Indonesia event thrice and won the title twice.
Vibrant atmosphere
"It's a very different feeling when I enter the court in Indonesia. I have always loved playing there because of the vibrant atmosphere. As I have tasted success here in the past, I would love to do well this time round. I do not plan to change my strategy," added the Hyderabad girl.u00a0
