Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez has told Goal.com he is happy for Cristiano Ronaldo to break the Pichichi record he currently shares with former Athletic Bilbao great Telmo Zarra but he says he didn't want Lionel Messi to surpass his famous 38-goal mark.
Hugo hit the famous figure in the 1989-90 season to equal the record set by the legendary Zarra in 1950-51.
Ronaldo, though, has drawn level with the pair and the Mexican believes the Portuguese will claim the record outright when Madrid host Almeria at the Santiago Bernabeu tomorrow.
"I think Cristiano will break it," he said. "He has one game left against Almeria and you would expect him to score at least one more."
The Mexican, who won the Pichichi award five times, claims it is an honour to share the all-time season-high total with Zarra and Ronaldo, but says records are there to be surpassed.
"It has always been an honour for to share that record with Telmo Zarra and now it's an honour to share it with Cristiano," he said.
