Singapore: Indian ace Sania Mirza and Switzerland's Martina Hingis lost to the Russian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 6-3, 2-6, 6-10 in the semi- finals of the WTA Final in Singapore on Saturday.
The Indo-Swiss pair won the first set with ease, but failed to continue their dominant performance in the following set. In the decider, the Russians upped their game to clinch the set 10-6.
Earlier, the Sania-Hingis pair defeated the Taiwanese combination of Hao-Ching Chan and Yung Jan Chan 7-6 (12-10) 7-5 to seal the last-four berth on Friday.
