Rome: Top-ranked women's doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis stormed into the semi-finals of the Rome Masters

yesterday with a 6-4, 6-2 win over USA pair of Raquel Atawo and Abigail Spears in the Italian capital.

While the Indo-Swiss pair had to fight hard in the first set, it was a breeze for Sania and Hingis in the second set.

Meanwhile, India's Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea beat Philipp Kohlschreiber and Viktor Troicki
6-3, 6-4 to move into the semi-finals of the men's doubles event yesterday.

Bopanna and Mergea had finished runners-up in the Madrid Open where they failed to defend their title last week.
