Sania Mirza from India defeated Ukrainian Olga Savchuk 6-4, 6-3 in the final round of the qualifying singles of Family Circle Cup in Charleston, USA on Sunday.
Mirza took 90 minutes to defeat Savchuk. She was in charge for most of the match, undoing Savchuk to secure her place in the main draw. She dominated Savchuk while serving, and dropped just six points in four service games.
Sania Mirza will now face American Alison Riske in the first round of the event today.
In the doubles event, Sania and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina will take on Americans Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber in the opening round match today.
