French President Nicolas Sarkozy will Wednesday hold a government meeting on the country's disastrous World Cup exit, and on Thursday will meet veteran France striker Thierry Henry, officials said.

Prime Minister Francois Fillon, Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot and junior sports minister Rama Yade will meet Sarkozy to discuss the team's dismal performance that ended Tuesday with a 2-1 defeat by South Africa.

The president will on Thursday meet with Henry, at the striker's request, Sarkozy's office said.

French radio station RMC said Henry, the last remaining member of the 1998 World Cup winning squad, was flying back to Paris in a private jet.

The other members of the France squad -- minus Nicolas Anelka who was expelled and sent home in disgrace on Sunday for a foul-mouthed outburst at coach Raymond Domenech -- were also due in France on Wednesday.
