JLN security snoops on spectators, literally
It was not just door-mounted metal detectors and hand-held frisking devices, security personnel at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium made their use of natural senses too.
Six youth were stopped at gate number 2 of the stadium when the cops posted there smelled that they were drunk. The incident was reported at 5:30 pm. They had proper venue passes but the cops smelled a rat when the youth were being frisked.
The youths tried to convince the cops that they just had beer but the cops did not allow them to enter the stadium. They kept arguing for 15-20 minutes but could not make it.
A lot of spectators did not know that even pens were barred from the stadium. As a result, even before the ceremony got underway heaps of pens could be seen at the frisking posts on several entry points to the stadium.
After the ceremony got over, the volunteers were returning to their designated work places when the security staff asked them to stop for athletes, an arguement ensued. The security personnel did not let volunteers pass untill all athletes were gone.
