Reigning Commonwealth Games and Asian Games champion India's Somdev Devvarman reached the South African Open semi-finals yesterday by ousting local Rik de Voest.
The 25-year-old Davis Cup star triumphed 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 after a seesaw 138-minute struggle at the Montecasino entertainment centre.
Earlier, Devvarman and David Martin lost 7-6, 3-6, 10-12 in the doubles quarter-finals to Karol Beck of Slovakia and Dudi Sela of Israel.
