Electing to bat, Al-Barkaat were bundled out for just 159 runs in their first innings with Altamas Khan remaining unbeaten on a 92- ball 52. Off-spinner Anmol Tare ensured the Kurla team didn't bat long with his scalp of 6/54, that also included four maiden overs.

In reply, the Dadar were in disarray thanks largely to the efforts of left-arm spinner Rajesh Sardar, who picked up 5/19 to leave VN Sule struggling on 69/7 at the end of the day's play, with Fahad Patel remaining unbeaten on 26. VN Sule trail Al-Barkaat by 90 runs. Sardar later said that he always knew the opposition would struggle batting second.

"It was a turning track so I knew that the opposition would be under pressure trying to get past our score. Deliberately pitched it outside off and the ploy worked," said Rajesh Sardar.
