El Gouna (Egypt): India's top male squash player Saurav Ghosal pulled off a thriller against world no.7 Tarek Momen to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the USD 150,000 El Gouna International tournament here.
Ghosal, who has slipped out world's top-20, somehow found a way to get past the Egyptian 12-10 11-1 7-11 12-14 11-9 in a match played yesterday night.
World no.23 from Kolkata squandered five match balls in the fourth game before scraping though. He next faces another higher-ranked Egyptian in Omar Mossad tomorrow.
"I've had a few close ones over the last year but haven't won. So just really happy to win after squandering five match balls in the fourth," Ghosal told PTI.
On his next opponent, he said: "Mossad is a big guy. So need to get ahead of him and move the ball around him well to make him work.
"Also, I have to get my body right first and then get used to the inside court because I'm not playing on the glass court," he said.
