St Stanislaus High School (Bandra) beat defending champions St Francis D'Assisi High School (Borivli) by a solitary goal to book a spot in the final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) boys' U-14 Division I inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan on Saturday.
The victory was made even more sweeter by the fact that the Bandra outfit lost last year's U-14 final to St Francis D'Assisi 3-4 in the tie-breaker.
St Stanislaus dominated the first half which ended 0-0 due to some resolute defending from D'Assisi. After the break, St Stanislaus took the lead in the 40th minute through Joshua D'Souza.
The striker tapped in Saurabh Gupta's cross from the left flank to the bottom right corner of the goal.
