Riding on 'keeper Siddesh Chavan's heroics under the bar, St Thomas (Goregaon) beat NSS Hill Spring International (Tardeo) 5-4 via tie-breaker in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) U-14 inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

After the match ended 1-1 with a goal each from St Thomas' Jay Kavanjawkar and NSS' Dhravil Gandhi, Chavan excelled in the ensuing tie-breaker. The 13-year-old effected four saves in the shootout and then stepped up to score the winner for the Goregaon school.
Siddesh denied NSS' Miqdad Khorakiwala, Krish Maneklal, Rushabh Shah and Vraj Shah. Siddesh then returned to score in the in the sudden death.
Chaitanya Das, Sameep Kambli, Harshal Thakur and Siddesh found the net for St Thomas, while only Shubhay Bhavnani, Faeq Motiwala and Parth Doshi were on target for NSS Hill Spring.
