India boxers ease into Round Two of Worlds
The Indian contingent at the ongoing AIBA World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan yesterday continued its winning streak with veteran boxers Akhil Kumar (56kg) and Suranjoy Singh (52kg) steamrolling their respective first round opponentsu00a0 on Day Two of the competition.

A day after Devendro Singh (49kg) beat Asylbek Nazaraliev of Kyrgyzstan 14-8 to reach the Round of 32, former Commonwealth Champion Akhil drubbed Filip Barak of Slovakia while the diminutive dynamo Suranjoy hammered Zsolt Dobradi of Hungary inu00a0 lop-sided affairs. Both boxers made it to the Round of 32.

2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Suranjoy started off slowly and held a two-pint lead (6:4) after the first round. The second round however, saw him unleash a flurry of blows and take an impressive 17:5 lead.
The third and final round, was akin to the second and Suranjoy emerged a 24:8 victor. In the Round of 32, Suranjoy will take on 2009 World Championship silver medallist Nyambayar Tugstsogt of Mongolia, who made his place in the second stage after beating Stefan Ivanov of Bulgaria.
Meanwhile, Akhil began well and took a three-point lead after the opening round. In the second, he was up by five points, and eventually won 16:8. Next up, he meets World No 4 John Nevin of Ireland.
