Swede Ekersund is in city to monitor youngsters under AITA programme who are here to participate in the sixth Ramesh Desai Memorial National tennis championship at Cricket Club of India tennis courts. Yesterday, one of his wards, second seeded Sachin Kumar of Chandigarh comfortably beat West Bengal's Ankush Arora 6-1, 6-4.
"I am quite impressed with these youngsters. What I noticed is that they are very keen to learn and much more disciplined in comparison to junior players in Sweden. India is heading in the right direction. What they need right now is a long-term player development programme in various categories," said the 35-year-old coach.
