Taylor Dent, the son of Australian tennis legend Phil Dent, announced yesterday that he is retiring from professional tennis to pursue other opportunities.
The 29-year-old American finished with an ATP record of 151-140 and more than 2.5 million dollars in prize money.
Dent won four career titles, three of them in 2003.
He went 12-19 in 2010 and was ranked 85th after reaching a career high of 21st in 2005.
Dent, a serve and volleyer, underwent back surgery three times in 2006 and 2007 but battled back last year to return to the top 100.
