Carlos Tevez scored a hat-trick as Manchester City moved up to fifth in the English Premier League table with a 3-0 win over Wigan last night.
The visitors matched City until they had Gary Caldwell sent off 10 minutes after the restart. And then Tevez rolled in three goals to take his tally to 25 for the season and 21 in 19 appearances. City are now two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Wigan began strongly and it was not until 27 minutes into the second session that City got ahead. Patrick Vieira clipped the ball over the top of goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic who rushed out but failed to make a challenge and Tevez rolled the ball in.
City doubled the lead two minutes later when Adam Johnson fired a cross to the far post that was flicked on by Vincent Kompany and Tevez found the net. Tevez then completed his hat-trick (84th minute) when he broke clear and found the corner of the net with a precise shot.
