Timeless, ridden by Chhotu Singh Jodha, posted an authoritative victory in the Gamble For Love Trophy, the feature event of the opening day's card at Pune. Backed down spiritedly from 5/1 to 7/2, the Sunderji ward lived up to the fans' expectations.

Content to race in mid-bunch after his effort to stalk the pace was thwarted by Mygrator (PS Chouhan up) who crossed over to the rails soon on jump, Timeless moved up on his own while turning for home. Improving dramatically, Jodha then had to only nudge him to get alongside pace setter Brynhill (NB Kuldeep up), and the Rajesh Monga-owned four-year-old whizzed past to sail home. At the wire, Timeless spared one-and-three-quarter lengths to Brynhill who just about held on by three-parts of a length from the fast-finishing Holy Smoke (K Nazil up).

No win for Trevor
Champion jockey Trevor Patel had to go without a victory on the opening day despite riding in seven of the eight races. Dance The Dream (10-5 on) & Arashi (13/10) were among the most supported of his mounts, but both finished out of money, one must say, in spite of his all out efforts. Incidentally, the same two races threw up the day's two shock winners in Grey Flannel (17/1) and Angels Harmony (33/1). Jockey Dashrath Singh was the sole professional to score a double on the card with Colombiana Princess & Skysurfer.
