Turkish Golf Federation president Ahmet Agaoglu yesterday apologised for an incident with a journalist which threatened to overshadow the Turkish Airlines World Golf final and the creation of a new 7million US dollars tournament on the European Tour.
It was an unsavoury incident before Tiger Woods' opening match with Charl Schwartzel on Tuesday which brought the apology from Agaoglu, who had been accused of headbutting a journalist amid chaotic scenes on the first tee.
"I shouldn't have to be there, but I am trying to make everything so perfect. It was unlucky it happened and I will given a written apology because one way or another it was not nice."

McIlroy lost his second group match at the World Golf Final yesterday to Charl Schwartzel by one-shot. A second defeat has left McIlroy needing to beat Tiger Woods and see Schwartzel beat Matt Kuchar to have any chance of making the semis. The final group games were called off after a massive thunderstorm, meaning McIlroy will return for at least 18 holes today.
