New York: Germany's Angelique Kerber rolled to her 7-5, 6-0 victory over Italy's Roberta Vinci, advancing to the US Open tennis women's singles semi-finals.
The 28-year-old German player took control over the proceedings here on Tuesday in the second set, dominating Vinci with a strong baseline game and preventing the Italian from holding serve, reports Xinhua.
Vinci, World No.8, was unable to match her 2015 dream run at this year's US Open.
Last month, Kerber won the silver medal in singles at the Olympic tennis tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
Puerto Rico's Monica Puig beat Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the women's gold medal match.
Kerber will take on the winner of the quarter-final match between Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki and Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova in the semis.
