New York: France's Kristina Mladenovic ousted Russian 13th seed Ekaterina Makarova 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 6-1 on Sunday to reach the US Open quarter-finals.

Already on her deepest Grand Slam run, the 22-year-old ranked 40th in the world booked a last-eight date today against Italy's Roberta Vinci.

Vinci and Mladenovic have never met in a tour-level match.
