Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel is hoping to finally tie a kangaroo down this weekend
Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel is hoping to finally tie a kangaroo down this weekend.
The kangaroo in question is one that adorns the trophies for those drivers that finish on the podium in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.
For Vettel, it would not only mean the ideal start to his reign as champion, but more importantly would end his hoodoo around Albert Park in Melbourne.
In his three races at the circuit, Vettel has retired twice , including last year when he was leading after starting from pole ufffd and with his only finish a lowly 13th in 2009.
That is a statistic he is determined to eradicate, not least so he can finally claim himself 'a kangaroo', which in turn would likely endear him further to a nation he adores.
"They have a nice trophy when you finish on the podium. It used to have, and I hope it still has, a kangaroo on it, which is something you can only get here.
"I love racing, love driving the car, but I also love these little things. It's these little things that are special or different to other trophies."
