Vibgyor High School (Goregaon) and Gopi Birla Memorial (Walkeshwar) clinched their maiden Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised girls and boys under-16 handball titles respectively at Azad Maidan on Saturday. In the girls' final, Gopi Birla dominated the first half, but Vibgyor bounced back to level 1-1 at half time. Vibgyor then took early lead to seal the match 5-1. Niyati Vijay and Ruhi Gupta scored two goals each for Vibgyor while Riddhi Puranik netted one.

However, Gopi Birla boys made up for the disappointment with a thrilling 10-9 win over Pawar Public School (Bhandup). With both teams locked at 9-9 after full time, Gopi Birla's top scorer Dhairya Jhunjhunwala scored the winning goal to end up as their highest scorer with four goals.
