Shaurya Vig came good at the right time. Vig's hat-trick helped Hiranandani (Powai) trounce Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) 4-0 in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) DIV III U-14 semi-finals at Azad Maidan yesterday. The win also helped the Powai outfit earn a promotion to Division II after
four years.
Striker Shaurya gave Hiranandani the lead in the ninth minute through a solo effort beating several defenders. He came back after the breather to double the lead in the 33rd minute off a curling right-footer. In the very next minute, midfielder Nishant Raj converted a cross from skipper Adam Eldefrawwy to make it 3-0.
Shaurya sealed the match in the 36th minute with a right-footed close ranger. Shaurya now has five goals in as many games.
Shaurya credited athletics for his agility on the football field. "I am also a part of my school's athletics team and track training has helped increase my speed," he told MiD DAY.u00a0
