The Mumbai Cricket Association's Cricket Improvement Committee will meet on Monday to discuss the current controversy regarding selection of the Mumbai team for the Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai.
Reportedly, the selection committee headed by former spin stalwart Padmakar Shivalkar had decided to send a young team for the tournament to test the Ranji Trophy champions' reserve strength.
However, seniors like Amol Muzumdar and Vinayak Samant were added to the squad which did not go down well with Shivalkar's colleague Shishir Hattangadi.
This led to the resignation of Hattangadi. Meanwhile, former captain Muzumdar has decided to play for Assam.
The prickly issue was brought before MCA's managing committee yesterday. Monday's emergency CIC meeting u00a0will witness a threadbare discussion and probable appointments .
Whether to accept Hattangadi's resignation will be left to the CIC. Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who was appointed CIC head recently, will in all probability not make it since he is abroad.
