Tournament organisers had brought forward the final to 1100GMT yesterday in a bid to beat the rain, but prolonged downpours throughout the morning and afternoon meant there was little chance of play.
The covers briefly came off Centre Court at 1430GMT before another shower forced the ground-staff to haul them back on and, with grey clouds hanging over the venue, it was decided to call off play at 1645GMT.
It will be only the third time the final has ever been played on a Monday and the first since 1987 when Germany's Boris Becker beat Jimmy Connors.
