Up against the top seed and world number one Laura Massaro of England, the Indian national champion failed to put up a fight, going down 3-11 6-11 3-11 in a match that lasted just 27 minutes.
Joshna did not have the required ammunition to test her British rival, who simply ran away with the match for a smooth passage into the quarterfinals.
Drawn in the top half, the 14th ranked Indian player, who had earlier won her opening round match comfortably in straight games, proved to be no match for the Englishwoman.
Last night, another Indian, Dipika Pallikal had bowed out of the tournament in the first round, losing a five-game match to the 10th ranked Annie Au.
