World No 1 Caroline Wozniacki yesterday progressed to the semi-final of the Brussels Open WTA tournament after her Belgian opponent Yanina Wickmayer retired after just two games. Wozniacki was leading 2-0.

In the semi-final, the Dane faces defending French Open champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy, who won her quarter-final 6-2, 6-3 against Japan's Ayumi Morita.
