Former Formula One world champion Jenson Button has lashed out at sports stars who hand over control of their social media handles to agencies. Several high-profile athletes, including Premier League footballers, do not manage their own Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Recently, Manchester City star Phil Foden was reportedly disappointed after his social media team posted a message directed at Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe ahead of their Champions League semi-final tie in April. The post was deleted later. According to UK's entertainment website, Female First, Button, who has two kids, Hendrix and Lenny with partner Brittny Ward, said: "I've always done my own social media and I will never have anyone do it. I know some people do, but I don't see the point. For me, if you're going to do it, it should be yourself. It's me taking a picture with the kids or me around the F1 weekend. I enjoy it, I like that interaction with the fans," he said.
