Lindsey Vonn
American skiing champ Lindsey Vonn spoke about her mental health struggles and said that earlier she viewed it as a sign of weakness, but is more vocal about it now.
Vonn, 36, said she now wants to help athletes as well as non-sportspersons in dealing with their mental issues.
"I wish I had been able to or been strong enough to talk about it back in the early parts of my career," Vonn told USA Today Sports. "But I think the older I got and the more support I got from others, the more I realised there's no shame in it."
The four-time Olympian felt the Covid-19 pandemic has made the subject even more important. "Everyone should have a therapist. It should be like having a dentist, or going to a paediatrician. We should all take mental health seriously and do our best every day to make sure we're taking care of it," Vonn added.
