Maria Sharapova's next business venture - furniture designing

Russian tennis star and entrepreneur, Maria Sharapova has made a foray into furniture designing. Sharapova, 33, who owns a candy brand, Sugarpova, has joined hands with Vancouver-based Rove Concepts to create elegant furniture. The initial offering includes a sofa, a bench, signature fabrics, side tables, a lamp and a rug.

"I wanted to make sure that all the pieces work as extensions of people's lives - pieces that complement the things they already live with," Sharapova was quoted as saying by Architectural Digest magazine.

The five-time Grand Slam champion honed her design skills during her travels across the globe as well as while renovating her house in Los Angeles. "I drew a lot of inspiration from my own home, which I designed to feel like somewhat of an oasis - a place I could return to after traveling around the world for my sport or even a day of busy meetings," Sharapova added.
