Naisha emerges champion

In the competition limited to just three rounds, Naisha finished the tournament with an all-win record to garner full three points for the number one position to claim her maiden gold medal.

Naisha Kapadia, 14, of Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu), won honours in the girls U-16 MSSA inter-schools chess tournament at the St Sebastian High School Hall, Chembur recently. In the competition limited to just three rounds, Naisha finished the tournament with an all-win record to garner full three points for the number one position to claim her maiden gold medal.

Saher Gole of IES Orion (Dadar) and Yashashree Surve IES Modern (Dadar) finished one point behind the leader for second and third place respectively. Saher with a better progressive score, was awarded silver while Yashashree was presented the bronze. Jamnabai Narsee's Hetavi Chatwani also ended the three-round contest with two points, but missed out on a podium finish.
