Race card abandoned due to rain

Unseasonal showers played spoilsport, forcing cancellation of the latter half of the race card here yesterday.

The first three races of Friday's eight-race card were run in bright sunlight before a sudden change in atmosphere was caused by cool breeze blowing across the vast expanse of the racecourse just before the fourth race which was won by the Narendra Lagad-trained Majestic warrior (P S Kaviraj up) in a successful wire to wire bid. Soon after the winner was led in and all horses weighed in, it started raining heavily.

The rains continued without a let up, delaying proceedings for the fifth race. After waiting for nearly half an hour, the stewards decided to cancel the remaining four races. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha managed to lead in two winners--Warrior Clan & Silver Storm--on the curtailed card, with the help of rookie riders M S Deora & G Santosh respectively.
