Ian, Renee and Emma Raducanu
Brit tennis star Emma Raducanu, the teen who became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam, has revealed that her parents (father Ian and mother Renee) have ensured that she stays focussed and grounded.
Raducanu, 19, who won the US Open earlier this year, told People magazine: "They're really good at keeping me on the ground and really good at keeping me focused and just plugging away a day at a time, not getting too high with the wins or too low with the losses."
Raducanu, who was named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday, said she is grateful for the sacrifices her parents have made.
"They [both] have full-time jobs, so from a young age I was at school alone or at childminders. So I think looking back, just to see how far I've come, and their support, for them to bring me to this stage, I really respect [them] and I'm so grateful for the sacrifices that they made," she remarked.
