Ace jockey P Trevor reached an important milestone in his career at the Mahalaxmi race course on Sunday when he drove Inishmore to a smashing debut victory in the J Rustomji Sopariwala Trophy. The Planetaire - Ice Cube Baby three-year-old was trained by Ms Nazzak Chinoy, who owns him in partnership with Balam Mohla and breeder Sultan Singh of the Sohna stud farm.
"Every winner is important; but yes, this is special because this is my 1,500th win," Trevor said after the race, "he (Inishmore) raced with maturity despite this being his debut." "Trevor rode a fabulous race as usual," trainer Ms Nazzak Chinoy said, "and Inishmore did exactly what was asked of him."
In the grade 3, Shapoorji Pallonji Breeders' Juvenile Colts' Championship, one of the two feature races of the Sunday card, Imperial Power turned the tables on Dexa to whom he had played second fiddle in the Poonawalla Breeders' Multi-Million (Gr 1) three weeks ago on the same track. Suraj Narredu rode a confident race on the Multidimensional - Majestic Opinion colt trained by his father Satish Narredu.
In the Forbes Breeders' Juvenile Fillies' Championship (Gr 3), the Adhirajsingh Jodha-trained Dangerous (Speaking Of Which - Transformation), freely available at 12-to-1 in the bookmakers' ring, managed to upset the shortest-priced favourite of the day, the Pesi Shroff-schooled King's Ransom (P S Chouhan up), by the shortest margin of 1/100th of a second. Dangerous received a vigorous ride from jockey C S Jodha.
Interestingly, both Dangerous and Imperial Power were bred at the Usha stud of Ms Ameeta Mehra. Trainer Pesi Shroff scored a double; and in the riding department his feat was matched by three jockeys: P Trevor, C S Jodha and P S Chouhan.
