A wizarding joyride
I approached this like a child's scrapbook or artists' journal and I think it was this that led to being chosen for the job," reveals Olivia Lomenech Gill, the celebrated illustrator, on being commissioned to bring to life the world in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Writing as the popular Magizoologist Newt Scamander who compiled these wild wonders, JK Rowling takes the reader on a joyride through the wizarding universe in a new edition of the cult companion volume to the Harry Potter series. Packed with a canvas that includes the thunderbird, sphinx, longhorn, centaur, short-snout, imp, phoenix and trolls (also known for their stupidity!), this A-Z guide is an extraordinary representation of magical creatures. Gill's palette is brilliantly imaginative; her strokes tell a story about every beast, and leaves the reader - including, Muggles like us - to wish they could do battle with a menacing graphorn or swim with a ramora.
