Ronan Keating

Backstreet came and went, and now, Boyzone is here. At least a part of it. The mellow voice of Ronan Keating will woo '90s kids this November, and this writer, for one, can't wait. Right from the boy band's hits - Picture of You, Isn't it a Wonder, Love Me for a Reason - to Keating's solo tunes such as I Love It When You Do, we are ready to sing along.

Excerpts from an interview:

What have you been up to in the past few years - musically and personally?
I feel very fortunate to still be making music after nearly 30 years since the early days of Boyzone. I still get the chance to play shows all over the world, and that's something I never take for granted.

In retrospect, how do you look back at your career - would you have done anything differently?
No, everything that's happened through my career has led me to this point. The ups and downs are all part of life's experiences. Of course, there have been tough times but that's the same for everyone no matter what they do career wise. We were five young Irish lads from the north side of Dublin that were given the chance to live our dreams and travel all over the world. The bond we formed is lifelong and very special.

What are your perceptions about India?
I'm lucky to have visited India on a couple of occasions, and I was blown away by the vibrant culture and wonderfully warm people. I can't wait to come back for the three live shows in November. I'm lucky that my music is popular all over the world, so I'm very grateful for everyone in India that's supported me through my career.

Who is Ronan when at home?
I'm a husband and father to five amazing kids, so home life is very special to me. I like nothing better than chilling out with the family, having a home-cooked meal and opening a nice bottle of wine.

Can you give us an insight into your set for Mumbai?
I'm lucky to be able to pick from 30 years of hits, so there'll be all the big songs from the Boyzone years, as well as my solo career. It's amazing to stand on stage and hear the audience sing your songs back to you. You realise that the songs mean as much to them as they do to me, which is very special.
