“I have been on the sets with my arm in a sling calling the shots. But I had to complete the project on time. As it is the right hand, it is making things even more difficult for me.”

The director, who is known for his comic capers, finds it amusing that he broke what is medically called the humerus bone! “It is the long bone of the upper limb. The doctors kept on referring to it as the humerus bone and there I was in agony.”

While attending an acting academy’s convocation ceremony, he slipped and fell as reported ‘Dhawan injured’. He states, “My arm hit the wall and I was in pain. I was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where X rays revealed that I had a fracture. I was operated and was in hospital for a week. The doctors have inserted a plate in my arm.”

After resting for a few days, the director resumed shooting for his film that stars Ali Zafar. “I am glad that I could finish on schedule despite the injury. I am now undergoing physiotherapy sessions,” he says. His film, he says is not a replica of Sai Paranjpe’s flick. “It is a more contemporary interpretation characterised by the kind of films I am known for.”
