Veteran designer Tarun Tahiliani remembers once being accosted with, "Sir, is yellow the new black?"

Plucking out references from the post World War II period, when Europe produced remarkable creativity in jazz, dance, photography and fashion, Kiran chose to blend them with the recession view of fashion as an irrelevant necessity.

The new-found discovery of leaning backwards for shiny-happy-vintage memories was celebrated with the now considered "luxury" of blinding colours and rich fabrics. She combined haute couture allure with fuss-free street style, gently nudging us to loosen our purse strings.

Jackets in all possible lengths, mostly quilted, were embellished with temple embroidery, patchwork, and patti work.

A definite dream-come-true for any mix-and-match kinda lady, the collection had options ranging from cowl dresses and tunics to pants and churidars, all bathed in vibrant hues.

Sheer stoles with wool trimmings and gauze dresses made for great visual appeal. The Persian Kilim embroidery added a stunning hint when it appeared on yokes.

We just wish Kiran would occasionally step away from her mainstay. Who doesn't like a surprise, once in a while?
