Going back to a childhood passion can often make one feel alive. Ali Fazal, who had picked up horse riding during his school days at La Martiniere, rediscovered his love for the sport in Lucknow last year. So exhilarated was he by the stint that the actor has now started training at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. A source reveals, “Ali doesn’t have a dedicated instructor per se because he already knows the sport well. Even though he has begun shooting for his next, Ali makes sure to squeeze in two classes a week, spanning a few hours.”

The actor, who describes horse riding as a “liberating and powerful experience”, says the lessons learnt as an equestrian prepare one for the setbacks in life. “I have waited to ride horses for a long time. Only a rider can explain the true meaning of getting back [on the saddle] after falling down, but that’s a life perspective each one of us needs. I hope I can learn well,” says Fazal, adding that the sessions are conducted in adherence with COVID protocols. “I want to do it the right way without putting anyone in danger.”
