This happened after Lisa Wainwright, dean of faulty and vice president of academic administration at SAIC, heard that the rapper was fascinated about attending the institute when he was younger.
His celebrity wife Kim Kardashian, who was in Brazil launching her latest collection, posted a picture on Twitter congratulating her hubby. "Dr. Kanye West!!!!!!! I'm so proud of you baby & I know your mom would be so proud too!!!!" read her post.
While Kanye's fans and many students of SAIC found the gesture "cool", Corinna Kirsch, a senior editor of a New York art magazine, expressed her displeasure in the magazine's newsletter, stating: "As an alumnus of SAIC, I am offended that the school's exorbitant tuition fees will help fund this nonsense."
