Schools are set to re-open from next week and it will mark the start of a brand new scholastic year for which children will need to stock up on stationery.


To cater to the demand, stationery shops are flooded with various kinds of stationery in a range of quirky designs, be it pens, geometry sets, pencils, sharpener, rulers, etc.



Stationery available in the city


On offer are pens that are available in vibrant colours and are priced at '5 each. Glittering pens are also available in various colours for Rs 10. There is also a huge demand for pencil boxes with Angry Bird and Bob The Builder motifs being the most popular.

The Chhota Bheem lunch boxes are also a rage and they boast of quirky locks on them. They are priced between Rs 25 to Rs 250. There are also a range of water bottles in various colours.

“Children are keen on the newer varieties that have come into the market. Kids prefer items in funky colours,” said Vinayak Surave a sales person at Royal Stationery.

Erasers are also available in various shapes and sizes. For girls, there are erasers in the shape of sandals and Barbie dolls and for boys, there are bikes, balls, etc. There are sharpeners that resemble iPhone, which are priced between Rs 10 to Rs 180.
