Dear Diana
Dear Diana,
My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. We are office colleagues. We have not thought of the future, but taking each day as it comes. He had broached the subject of marriage last year, but I was not too sure about it. He did not speak about it later. But after this, he started distancing himself from me. Now my folk feel I should get married. I am 27. When I spoke about it to my guy, he told me the choice is yours. With my parents pressurising me to get married, I can’t afford to dilly-dally as they are lining up prospective guys for me. I really do not know why he is behaving like this. Will we just drift apart? Or should I tell him that I was a bit unsure, so took my time to take a decision? At the same time, I do not want to lose him.

Dear Naveena,
You had your reasons to not commit at that time. Or you were not in a marriage frame of mind. Either way you need to tell him why you were not too sure. It is clear that he was upset, so he preferred to keep mum. He now wants you to be sure and serious about him. So tell him exactly how you feel now. Your indecisiveness vanished when your family started putting pressure about marriage on you. If they had not, you would have probably not given a marriage a thought. Tell him you care for him and that you wanted time to make up your mind. Your guy will obviously play hard to get, so he needs to realise that you care for him.
