Both were rushed to the hospital, and while the victim is currently out of danger, the accused is in a critical condition due to excessive loss of blood. According to the police, Bryan Mathew Fernandes and Madhu were lovers for the past three years, but split up a month ago.

Bryan, a Juhu resident, and Madhu a Malwani resident fell in love in junior college, three years ago. After their break-up, Madhu stopped responding to Bryan’s phone calls and refused to meet him. Around 4.30 pm yesterday, near Samra estate at Madh, Malad (West), Madhu was on her way home when Bryan began following her.

He requested her to talk to him, and when that had no effect, he stabbed her in the neck and hand. As eyewitnesses gathered on the spot to help Madhu and take her to a hospital, Bryan then ran towards the sea and stabbed himself in the neck as well.

However, lifeguards and other people present at the spot saved him and admitted him to the same medical centre Atlantic hospital. The police are currently waiting to record statements from both, Bryan and Madhu.
