After witnessing a significant dip in the test positivity rate (TPR) and new COVID cases on Saturday, the city’s TPR went above 1 per cent on Sunday and the cases crossed the 200-mark. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 252 new cases were reported along with three deaths and the TPR on Sunday was 1.01 per cent. 


On Saturday, 176 new cases and a TPR of 0.69 per cent were reported in the city. 


All the three deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group of 40-60 years, the other two were above 60 years of age. The doubling rate improved to 2,075 days on Sunday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 352 people were discharged after full recovery on Sunday. The state saw a marginal rise in new cases and COVID deaths. As per the state health department report, 892 cases were reported along with 16 deaths. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,063 people were discharged after full recovery. The state has 14,526 active cases. 


MMR sees rise in cases

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 435 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai. 

After Mumbai, Thane reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 131, followed by Raigad with 37 cases. Palghar reported 15 cases. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered one death, which was in Navi Mumbai.
