Warner reached his half-century in 34 balls when he pulled pacer Umran Malik (0-52) for a boundary through midwicket. Warner relished the company of West Indian Powell, sharing an unbeaten 122-run stand with him for the fourth wicket in 66 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowlers found themselves clueless against Delhi Capitals’ (DC) big-hitters David Warner (92 not out off 58 balls, 12x4, 3x6) and Rovman Powell (67 not out off 35 balls, 3x4, 6x6) as they posted a mammoth 207-3 in 20 overs.

At the time of going to press, DC were 44-3 after eight overs.

Warner was left stranded eight runs short of his maiden IPL-15 century—as the Aussie southpaw didn’t get strike in the final over. However, the Brabourne Stadium seems to be his happy hunting ground as he had smashed 61 against Kolkata Knight Riders and an unbeaten 60 versus Punjab Kings.

On Thursday, Warner opened the innings with new partner— Mandeep Singh (0) after his regular partner Prithvi Shaw fell ill.

Warner reached his half-century in 34 balls when he pulled pacer Umran Malik (0-52) for a boundary through midwicket. Warner relished the company of West Indian Powell, sharing an unbeaten 122-run stand with him for the fourth wicket in 66 balls.

Powell fully capitalised on the reprieve he got on 18 after SRH skipper Kane Williamson dropped him at mid-off off Malik. He then thrashed the speedster for 19 runs in the final over of the innings that included a six and three consecutive fours.

Shaw, who has 259 runs in nine games this IPL, has been a regular with Delhi since his IPL debut in 2018. With the Mumbai-based batsman’s name not in the XI, the word around was that he might have been dropped or injured. However, DC official confirmed to mid-day that the opener was unwell.
