The former boxing champion, who is touring the states as part of his monologue show ‘Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth - Live On Stage’, made the revelation in a rambling Q and A session with the audience at the Spirit Conference Centre in Slough. “I always need money. Even when I had money I needed more money,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying. “I’m terrible with money,” he said.
Tyson’s money troubles are well documented. He earned 185 million pounds in his boxing career and was paid 22-million-pounds a fight, but he blew up everything. The gala night was in aid of muscular dystrophy. He desperately needs money and everything about the evening was about making it.
He has his photograph taken with the guests, though even the most hardened fan is surprised to have to pay 30-pounds a photo, plus 20 pounds for a frame to put it in. There’s an auction of memorabilia: boxing gloves fetch 400 pounds each, while shorts go for 2,000 pounds. There was even a raffle promising a “grand memorabilia prize.
