Rizvi batsman scores unbeaten double ton before spinning Bandra school to win over Gundecha for whom Suryansh Shedge scores 195 in vain

Abhinav Singh's brilliant all-round performance guided Rizvi Springfield High School (Bandra) to a sensational victory on first innings lead in a nail-biting encounter against Gundecha Education Academy (Kandivli) on Day Two of the Giles Shield Elite Group league match at New Hind Sporting Club, Matunga yesterday.


On Day One left-arm spinner Sachdev Zenith (3-109) starred for the Kandvli school by trapping two batsmen LBW and one clean bowled.


Abhinav scored an unbeaten 203 (30x4, 4x6) out of his side's total of 472-8 decl.


Gundecha’s Suryansh Shedge

Gundecha responded in positive fashion, but were bowled out for 321 with Abhinav claiming 4-34 with his off-spin. Fellow off-spinner Mohit Singh Tanvar claimed 4-76.

However, Gundecha's batting star was undoubtedly Suryansh Shedge, who slammed 195 off 183 balls.

Suryansh clubbed 11 fours and three sixes.

Abhinav was involved in two century partnerships -with Mohd Moin Khan and Mayank Tiyotiya. The Rizvi batsman resumed on his overnight score of 195 and completed his double century with two boundary hits.

Suryansh missed his double century by just five runs, but forced the opposition captain to utilise seven bowlers. Abhinav bagged figures of 4-34 as Gundecha were bowled out for 321.

Ronit stars for Gokuldham

Ronit Thakur's splendid display with the ball helped Gokuldham HS to an innings & 172 run-win over Shardashram Vidyamandir (English) at Oval Maidan yesterday. Ronit had figures of 5-30 before bagging 6-27 to bowl out Shardashram for 44 in their second essay Tarang Shah (4-8) and Khush Jain (4-12) were the other bowlers to shine. Earlier, Gokuldham scored 377-9 decl.
