Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, known to give befitting replies on social media, recently slammed a netizen who posted a picture of their vegetarian fair on the occasion of Eid al-Adha 2024 also known as Bakrid. Eid al-Adha is a holy occasion celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. It marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The festival is an occasion of joy and peace, where people celebrate with their families, let go of past grudges, and make meaningful connections. It is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice everything for God. Markets are flooded with goats/sheep as the Muslim families prepare for the traditional sacrificial ritual.
The netizen posted a plate of rice with paneer and some vegetables with the caption, "I'm proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free from tears, cruelty, and guilt." Swara reposted and wrote, "Honestly⦠I don't understand this smug self-righteousness of vegetarians. Your entire diet is made up of denying the calf its mother's milk.. forcibly impregnating cows then separating them from their babies & stealing their milk. You eat root vegetables? That kills the whole plant! Please relax with the virtue signalling just because it's Bakr Eid!"
