Gadar 2 still
'Gadar 2' vs 'OMG 2' Box Office: Sunny Deol and Akshay Kumar will be facing at the box office this weekend with their respective releases- 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2'. Ahead of the release, Sunny Deol's film, weighing heavy on nostalgia, is leading at the box office by a big margin. While Akshay Kumar-starrer had a disadvantage with shorter promotional window owing to censor board controversy, the film is likely to pick up pace with positive word of mouth. If early reviews are to go by, the film has immense potential to grow on word of mouth.
Early on Friday, before the first shows rolled, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his twitter handle to share the final advance booking status for both films. 'Gadar 2' directed by Anil Sharma is eyeing a massive opening as the film has sold nearly 3 lakh tickets in the national chains alone in India. The film also has a huge fan base in single screen theatres.
Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Gadar2 FINAL advance booking status at 'national chains' [till Thu night]⦠Note: DAY 1 bizâ¦
#PVR: 1,16,000
#INOX: 1,01,000
#Cinepolis: 57,000
Total: 2,74,000 tickets sold."
On the other hand, Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2', also a sequel to a successful film has managed to collect little over 70000 in national chains. This is far behind 'Gadar 2's 274000 tickets sold.

Trade analysts have predicted a first-day opening of R25 crore, the second biggest this year after Pathaan. Director Anil Sharma isn't surprised. "From the day I conceived the plot of Gadar 2, I knew it would do well. Gadar is an emotion that 100 crore Indians have loved, but our film industry never understood that. Many criticised Gadar [after its release]," he recalled in an interview with Mid-day. Taking the story of Deol's Tara Singh and Patel's Sakina forward, Gadar 2 shows how the protagonist heads to Pakistan to free his captive son, essayed by Utkarsh Sharma.
OMG 2, on the other hand, has a strong casting in Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi. Early reviews indicate that the film is content heavy and delivers a solid message in a well packaged manner.
